Albums

Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has received multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.

The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked a change from the more progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the lead singer Fergie Frederiksen resigned from the group and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering demos and tapes from the past to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well received by fans and the band embarked on a tour with former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

While touring for the album 40 Trips Around the Sun the drummer Leland Sklar left the group and was replaced by Shem von Schroeck. In 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with the group.
