I went to see the Cosmos Troupe's Brillia Hall performance "Xcalbur."
It's the story of King Arthur, but it's different from Masukaze's Lancelot and the French musical King Arthur.
Arthur and Lancelot are childhood friends who grew up like brothers, and Guinevere is a brave warrior who fights alongside them.
Arthur is played by Toa Serika.
A pure and ordinary young man with fluffy blonde hair. I haven't seen Kiki like this in a long time.
She's cute, actually. Her voice is naturally high-pitched, so maybe this role suits her better.
I was thinking that, but then she suddenly went dark in the second act and transformed into Black Kiki.
I'm familiar with those eyes.
It's heartbreaking to see Arthur sink deeper and deeper into the abyss, unable to trust anyone but his older sister.
Guinevere is played by Sakura Haruno.
It's new to see Guinevere not being a princess.
She had a strong presence as a female warrior, and the number she sang with the two men, Arthur and Lancelot, on either side of her was fun and reminiscent of Singin' in the Rain.
Lancelot: Sakuragi Minato.
She's a little thin and not a big brother character, and she looks weak as a warrior, so I guess these are Zun-chan's weaknesses.
She was perfect when she sang about her unrequited love for Guinevere, and she had no intention of betraying Arthur to take Guinevere, so this was a different Lancelot to our existing image.
I liked how she protected Arthur's life and helped him regain his sanity.
Arthur's sister Morgan: Mashiro Yuki.
She's the heroine of this work.
Her complicated love for Merlin and resentment towards her father, her acting is great and her singing voice is beautiful.
If she hadn't let her problems get so complicated, she could have lived a normal life with the pure Arthur.
It made a huge impression on me.
Merlin: Wakasho Ritsu.
Did they want to rule the country? Did they want to test the limits of their magic?
At least we understand that they are the root of all evil.
The Wolf members are cool.
Marin's presence is impressive, but the boys in the Cosmos Troupe, including Oji Rise, are also cool.
The Wolf girls' dance was also cool, and I liked it more than the knights in Arthur's army.
The music was by Frank Wildhorn, so there was a number that reminded me of One Heart from Never Says.
The Cosmos Troupe is good at this kind of thing.
I'm looking forward to the new Cosmos Troupe.
