But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. The refrigerator is expensive and I was expecting better.

Aside from that blip, this fridge is a great choice. It boasts a spacious freezer compartment, which is uncommon in counter-depth French door refrigerators. Furthermore, it holds a fair amount of frozen foods as compared to similar models.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes all the features you'd expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from any place across the globe. It also has a lot of customization options. It also sends you notifications when doors are left open, when the refrigerator or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS included Precise fill which is an option that is available in a few other GE fridges that allow you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to dispense at once. The fridge displays a countdown to display how much water is left, but it's not as helpful as Precise Fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

During my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly constant across the different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator didn't vary much from 38 degrees. This is a good performance but doesn't quite make it to the top of our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also combine this fridge with an intelligent thermometer to get more precise readings of your fridge's internal temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge resistant" finish. It blocks streaks and fingerprints better than other stainless steel finishes I've tried.
